In training, was also given an examples of research conducted by post graduate student (S2) master program and Doctoral student of Applied Science program especially solar cell field and doctoral student (S3) of Reneweable Energy. Moreover, a training also given about the teaching methods that have been implemented in the TU/e especially in Science Innovation.In addition, Dr. Ir Joko Windarto also joining the 1st international conference PIChE Davao International Science and Engineering Forum 2010 on 16-17 April in Davao, Philippines. The conference is concerned with presented a paper on “The challenges of Biofuel Implementation in Indonesia: Environmental Perspective” together with a researcher from LIPI. This international conference attended by approximately 60 participants and the delegation from government and universities from several Asean countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Korea, Iran, U.S. and Austria that were interested in the application of renewable energy. On the first day, as the key note speaker was from Prof. Maria Natalia R Dimaano from the University of Santo Tomas Philippines. Prof. Maria explains about the condition of renewable energy development in Philippines especially in biofuel. Prof. Maria Natalia also explained
Congratulations to Wahyul Amien
Congratulations to Wahyul Amien Syafei, has finished phD from Kyusu Intitute of Technology Japan, and back to Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, his research is “A Study on System Level Design of Gigabit Wireless LAN System” , here’s the Summary;
The combination of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques tends to be a promising key for next generation wireless local area network (WLAN) systems due to the capability to increase the data rate exponentially and communication quality. Through this thesis we present a study on system level design of Gigabit WLAN system based on IEEE Very High Throughput (VHT) Task Group, i.e., IEEE 802.11 TGac’s functional requirements. We invented a new system architecture of very high throughput Gigabit WLAN which provides more than 1 Gbps of physical layer (PHY) throughput for 33 meter propagation distance with low bit error rate (BER). It employs 4 x 5 MIMO configuration and occupies 80 MHz bandwidth in 5 GHz frequency band. Run test of 4K digital cinema transmission is conducted under channel model B of IEEE 802.11 TGn, i.e. residential / small office channel model. By transmitting 90 frames of 4096 x 1074 pixels resolution with 24 bits per pixel, the proposed Gigabit WLAN gives satisfactorily image transmission quality as measured by peak-signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) to be 51.3 dB, whereas the acceptable PSNR for digital cinema over wireless is 40 dB to 50 dB, higher is better. We also invented a new technique to reduce the peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) for the preamble of Gigabit WLAN system. We employed a modified partial transmit sequence (PTS) technique and found the best trade-off phase rotation to be used in all field in the preamble. Our invented technique gives significant PAPR reduction with low complexity procedure. Implementation of the invented PAPR reduction technique to Gigabit WLAN preamble yields lower PAPR than IEEE 802.11n’s preamble. Further we invented a new VHT mixed format (MF) preamble for the proposed Gigabit WLAN system to ensure its backward compatibility with the existing WLAN standards 802.11a, 802.11n 20 MHz, and 802.11n 40 MHz devices operated in 5 GHz frequency band. Examinations under three channel models, i.e., AWGN channel, channel model B, and channel model D of IEEE 802.11 TGn demonstrate an excellent performance of Signal field reception. These results prove that the invented low PAPR VHT MF preamble for Gigabit WLAN system is understandable by the legacies which clears the backward compatibility’s requirement and supports coexistence with those systems.
Stadium Generale by Prof. Hiroshi Ochi dan Prof. Baiko Sai, Kyushu Intitute of Technology Japan
Prof. Hiroshi Ochi dan Prof. Baiko Sai giving a Stadium Generale for Student Faculty of Engineering Diponegoro University at 05th March 2010 as a follow-up cooperation between the FT Undip with Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan, The materials presented are Large Scale Integrated Circuit Design Education in Japan and the Japanese Semiconductor Industry from Educational Prespective, quite a lot of enthusiasts, such as students electrical engineering, industrial engineering, computer systems and mechanical engineering, well attended by Faculty and Department officials, the even was expected to increasingly close cooperation between two university in research and double degree programs.
About us

Pangeran Diponegoro
The Department of Electrical Engineering has been established for more than 20 years. Its establishment was based on the Director General of Higher Education Decree No. 47/Dikti/Kep/1986 dated September 26th, 1986. However, its history went back in 1983. At that year, the Department of Electrical Engineering was only a field of study as part of the Department of Mathematics under the Faculty of Mathematics and Science. With such a decree, the electrical engineering field had been under the authority of Faculty of Engineering (and it had been changed into a broader coverage - a study program). In 1999, the study program has already changed into department. In addition, the Department of Electrical Engineering has been accredited by The National Accreditation Board - Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional - Perguruan Tinggi, BAN-PT) with grade A (excellent) in 1998 and in 2003. The development of the Department of Electrical Engineering since its establishment in 1983 signifies some changes in the accepted student every year, number of teaching staff, laboratory equipment, classroom facilities, library and information system.
